MIAMI (CBSMiami) – They are colorful and convenient, but Consumer Reports is no longer recommending the use of liquid laundry detergent pods because of the high-rates of accidental poisonings in young children.

A two year study by Nationwide Children’s Hospital, which took place from 2012-2013, focused on children swallowing, inhaling or otherwise being exposed to chemicals in laundry detergent pods and charted 17,000 cases.

The consumer group has strongly urging households with children younger than six years old to stop buying them.
