Steering You Right: Key Biscayne Bike Lane Improvement Begins

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – One of this week's major closures is welcomed news for bicyclists who ride in Key Biscayne. Another notable closure is a portion of the Palmetto and the Turnpike will close down for construction.

Starting this week, Miami-Dade County is improving bicycle lanes and resurfacing the roadway along Crandon Boulevard from the Crandon Park Marina to Calusa Circle. Construction will continue through December of this year. One car lane and one bicycle lane will remain open at all times in either direction. Work is scheduled to take place weekdays from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Starting on Friday, the southbound 826 exit ramp to West Flagler Street will be temporarily closed for approximately three months. Drivers on southbound 826 wanting to exit at West Flagler Street will be detoured to the eastbound 836 ramp.

The eastbound 836 exit ramp to southbound NW 27th Avenue will be closed Tuesday through Thursday from 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. each night.

All northbound Turnpike lanes between Southwest 216th Street and Southwest 211th Street will be closed from 11 p.m. Tuesday  to 5 a.m. Wednesday.
