DAVIE (CBSMiami) – It’s the time of year that football fans have been waiting for since the end of the last Super Bowl.

The beginning of training camp means that a new football season is just a few short weeks away.

Fans finally get to see their favorite teams back on a football field and feel the hope and excitement of a new season that comes with a fresh, unblemished record.

For us here in South Florida, there is much to be excited about heading into the 2015 NFL season.

The Miami Dolphins have the best collection of players that the team has seen in several years and hopes are high that the Fins will make the playoffs for the first time since 2008, and perhaps win their first playoff game since the 2000 season.

The Dolphins will hold training camp at the team’s practice facility in Davie, located at 7500 SW 30th street.  For directions and parking information, click here.

Camp will open on July 30th and there will be 12 practices that are free to the public.  There will also be one practice that is designated only for season-ticket holders who are members of the Dolphins ‘Finatic’ program.

Tickets for all practices can be requested on the team’s official website.

With the practice facility located just off of University Drive, there are several restaurants within just a few miles for fans looking to grab a bite before or after a practice.

Food and drinks are available at the training facility’s concession area as well.  They will be open each day serving an assortment of breakfast and lunch items, depending on the time of day, as well as bottled water, Gatorade and soda.

No outside food or drink is allowed to be brought inside.

Backpacks and purses are also not permitted. During open practices, the team follows the NFL’s Game Day Bag Policy which is as follows:

One bag that is clear plastic, vinyl or PVC and does not exceed 12” by 6” and 12” or a one-gallon clear plastic freezer bag (Ziploc bag or similar). In addition to one of the clear bags noted above, fans may also carry in a small clutch bag or purse approximately the size of a hand, with or without a handle or strap. An exception will be made for medically necessary items after proper inspection. Diapers and wipes can be carried in a clear bag. Each member of a family, including children, will be able to carry an approved clear bag and a clutch purse, providing ample storage capacity.

Fans can also purchase a wide variety of Dolphins merchandise at the team’s pro shop, which is located at the entrance to the practice facility.

The pro shop will be open during all public practices.  On days without practice, store hours are 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

One difference in this year’s training camp is the location of the annual intrasquad scrimmage, which is usually held at Sun Life Stadium.

Since the stadium is undergoing renovations (it’s expected to be ready in time for the Dolphins first home preseason game on August 29th against Atlanta), the scrimmage venue was moved to Ocean Bank Field at Florida International University.

The scrimmage will be held on August 7th at 6:30 p.m.  Tickets cost $7 and can be purchased on the Dolphins official website.

Parking for the scrimmage is free and lots will open at 4 p.m. for tailgating and a special ‘fan festival’.  Following the event, fans will be able to get autographs from current and past players.  There will also be a post-scrimmage fireworks show.
