Liberty City Students Get Tools For School

MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- Dozens of students in Liberty City are already getting prepped for school thanks to its sister city.

On Saturday, students will be getting free school supplies, uniforms and shoes.

Not only are they getting the right tools for school, they will also enjoy a day at a Key Biscayne park. There's BBQ and  activities for some fun in the sun.

The third annual event was organized by Liberty City's sister city, the Village of Key Biscayne.

"Without this event, many of these students would not have the proper school supplies, that is why we take them out of Liberty City for the day and give them the right tools," said Key Biscayne Community Foundation Executive Director, Melissa McCaughan White.

The event begins at 10:00 a.m. and lasts until 2 p.m. at the Village Beach Park.
