MIAMI (CBSMiami) – A group of dogs rescued from deplorable living conditions were looking for 'furever' homes at an adoption event Saturday.

Miami-Dade County Animal Services rescued 17 dogs in total from a decrepit home.

The pets were taken in and cared for until they were able to be adopted.

While some of them have found homes, nine remain.

Miami-Dade County Animal Services held the adoption event at The Falls Mall on from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. in front of Talbots and Chico's, located at 8888 SW 136 St, Miami, FL 33176.

"I love her. She´s so cute, she's so playful!" said Hailey Arias.

Hailey and Hamlet Arias adopted a dog named Sadie, who she said will receive tons of love at home.

"The kids have been asking for a dog for a long time. We have a cat at home but I think they´ll get along," said Hamlet Arias.

The adoption process was pain-free said Hamlet Arias – requiring some paperwork, questionnaire, $35 and a little time together.

"That includes the neutering, the shots, yeah, the microchip. So yeah, it's definitely worth it," said Hamlet Arias.
