MIAMI (CBSMiami) – A local community came together on Saturday to help revitalize their neighborhood – one that's seen its share of violence.
"We're painting. We're putting in plants and we're really trying to make a difference in this important center for the kids," said volunteer Jane Fraser who is with Citibank.

Liberty Square has been saturated with shooting after shooting.
Just two weeks ago 10-year-old Jamari Tillman was shot in the leg while he was out riding his bike
Saturday morning a much different scene as dozens of volunteers took part in a project to inject new life in the area.
"I think it's incredible. You don't see this more often," said Leshanthria Wimble.
Wimble said she moved out of the area because of the violence. Still, her son attends the early head start program in Liberty Square and she's grateful for the volunteers' efforts.
"To come here and see people that's genuine, that's nice and that have a good heart, that means a lot to me," she said.
Those who live in the area realize the challenges this community faces, and volunteers are hoping to be part of the solution.
"We can't wait to come back during the year and next year and just keep doing this work," said Fraser.
