10-Year-Old Shot Released From Hospital

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – A 10-year-old child shot in the leg while riding his bike was released from the hospital on Sunday.
The shooting happened around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Liberty Square recreation center at 1415 NW 63rd Street.
Jamari Tillman was riding a bike around the basketball courts behind the center when three people walked up and began shooting.
"I was in my apartment and I heard multiple gunshot wounds," said Jamari's neighbor Tyrone Brown.

Jamari was in tremendous pain while in the hospital, but maintained a positive outlook.
"Well, myself, my leg hurts real bad," Jamari said. "But at least I can walk."
The bullet is still lodged in his left calf and he has to use a walker to get around. But his family is grateful his injuries were not worse.
"I thank God he ain't dead, that God gave him a chance to have him again, you know, a second chance in life," said hie mother, Sandra Fair.
There are several surveillance cameras at the Liberty Square complex because of closed circuit TV system installed by Miami Police in a special program.
Investigators may release some of the surveillance tape in hopes the community can help.
Police do not have a motive or any suspects at this point.
