Winderman: Wade Leaving Heat 'Getting Closer to 50/50'

Interviews-wqam

Dwyane Wade may not be in a Miami Heat uniform next season and the Sun Sentinel's Ira Winderman thinks the odds are "getting closer" to a coin flip.

"I think it's getting closer to 50/50 than I ever would have fathomed," Winderman said on the Marc Hochman Show with Zach Krantz on Friday. "I think there is so much going on behind the scenes. I think this has been handled so non-Heat family like... people have been leaking stuff to people and giving out information and actually creating a distance between the parties which I can never recall at any previous Heat-type negotiations that we've ever gotten to this point, where you have to wonder does Dwyane even trust Pat Riley and Micky Arison anymore?

Winderman says this is new ground for the Heat in contract negotiations with an iconic star.

"I've never seen a Heat situation get like this," he said. "Even Alonzo, when they let him go to the Nets. Pat Riley was very clear: I'm spending on other players because of your health we can't be sure. We would love to have you here. When I'm done with free agency, whatever's left will be yours. Zo said no.

"I can't believe it's gotten to this spot right now with Dwyane Wade."
