MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Miami-Dade Police said a robber held up a person at gunpoint, but it was the thief who landed in the hospital.

According to authorities, an armed man approached a person at 2325 NW 65 Street. The victim took off running on foot and the thief reportedly opened fire.

The person being shot at allegedly returned fire, hitting the robber several times.

The armed thief was taken to the Ryder Trauma Center and was listed in stable condition.

Police said the victim was okay.
