Whiteside on NBA 2K: 'I Still Can't Dunk'

wqam

Hassan Whiteside has had quite the 2015.

After a two-year hiatus from the NBA, he averaged 11.8 points and 10.0 rebounds in his first season with the Miami Heat, finishing fourth in voting for the NBA's Most Improved Player award.

How have things changed this offseason?

"It's just more people recognizing who I am now than when they used to," Whiteside said on the Marc Hochman Show with Zach Krantz. "Even when I go back home you don't really know how much what you do inspires people to chase their dreams. That's one thing that surprised me."

Whiteside hit the league by storm this season, not only for his play seemingly coming out of nowhere but for some epic quotes after games. Gems like "I'm just trying to get my 2k rating up" after swatting 12 shots against the Bulls in January.

Talking more NB2K, Hoch and Krantz wondered what Whiteside's rating would be if he averaged 20 and 20 next season.

"My 2k rating has to be a 99 if I do that," Whiteside said. "It's like 81 or something now, I still can't dunk. I'm doing fastbreak layups.

"My motto is I just give myself the ball every time."

Whether it's on the court, on the radio, or in a video game, Hassan Whiteside is perpetually entertaining.
