MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- A car fire in West Miami-Dade has caused some major traffic Friday afternoon.

The car was seen burning on the southbound lanes of Florida's Turnpike near the Dolphin Expressway (SR836) just after 5 p.m.

Chopper 4 was over the scene as flames billowed out of the silver or white colored car.

Behind the fire, you could see traffic that stretched for miles.

A few cars were seen passing next to the fire through an open lane.

No word on whether anyone was injured. It is unclear what caused the blaze.
