Baldinger: Miami Has 'Outside Chance' at DeVante Parker

Interviews-wqam

Many think the Miami Dolphins would love to be able to land a top-flight receiver in the first round of the 2015 NFL Draft, most notably Amari Cooper, Kevin White, or Devante Parker.

The question is whether any of the consensus top-three wideouts will be available when the Dolphins select at No. 14 overall. NFL Network's Brian Baldinger things there's a chance.

"If Mariota and the edge pash passers all run and then maybe a Trae Waynes and a Marcus Peters gets in there, I could see the receivers dropping," Baldinger said on the Joe Rose Show on WQAM. "I've got to kind of believe right now the only guy that may be available -- let's just say you're speaking about the Dolphins at 14 -- Parker has, I think, an outside chance of being there at 14."

Parker, a 6-foot-3 weapon out of Louisville, is among the most explosive wideouts in the draft. According to Pro Football Focus, he ranked first of the receiver prospects in yards per route vs. Power 5 Teams, showing his ability to terrorize even the nation's top competition.

As for the quarterback position, while most assume Jameis Winston is a lock for No. 1 overall, Baldinger isn't so certain about Marcus Mariota going a pick later.

"I think there's a lot of teams that like him, Joe," Baldinger said. "I can't find anybody outside of Philadelphia that loves him because they feel like it's going to take time to transition to the pro game and it may. I think he's a very bright kid and all that but even still he's been in just one style of offense his whole life and we've seen other quarterbacks struggle, trying to make the transition."
