HIALEAH (CBSMiami) – It was a wild scene in Hialeah where two young men were arrested by Hialeah Police on the roof of the Westland Mall.

Chopper 4 captured a dramatic image of one suspect in handcuffs on top of the busy Hialeah mall.

Hialeah Police Spokesman Detective Carl Zogby told CBS4's Peter D'Oench that the men, who are 19 and 20, were taken into custody after stealing at least one vehicle and eluding police.

Zogby said the men were charged with stealing a vehicle, resisting arrest without violence and eluding police.

Zogby said the incident started around 4 p.m. when the two men were seen rummaging through a stolen white Chevrolet Silverado Pickup truck.

"This was police work 101," said Zogby, the Executive Assistant to the Chief of Police who was on the crime scene where the episode started by Ernest Graham Park at West 4th Ave. and 65th St.

"A police officer on routine patrol spotted the truck with a broken window and saw two young men rummaging through it," said Zogby. "He stops to investigate. They jump in a Nissan Altima and take off. The officer advises officers what he saw and a BOLO was put out.

"Moments later a vehicle matching the description was seen stopped at the Westland Mall. They ditched their car near the food court and ran in there and they made it to the roof where we arrested these young men who are 19 and 20."

Zogby said no police officers were injured.
