MIAMI (CBSMiami) - Hours before he makes his presidential intentions official at a major rally in Downtown Miami, Marco Rubio is already a trending topic on twitter.

The junior Senator from Florida is trending in his hometown of Miami and across the United States.

The Senator's team seems to be taking full advantage of the power of social media, by announcing this morning that tweets regarding his presidential campaign would be coming from the handle @TeamMarco.

When CBS4 News first checked the page, it had 39 followers. Two minutes later, that number had grown to 777. By noon, that number was a 3,224 and growing rapidly.

The first tweet from that account came down at 9:06 am and it said "It's gonna be a big day."

Another post read, "WOW! Who knew you could get 250 followers in 10 seconds?"

Some behind the scenes photos provided by Team Marco showed the Senator standing at the podium for a rehearsal inside the Freedom Tower at Miami Dade College.

In one shot, you see his son, Anthony, looking up at him.

In another, Senator Rubio is hugging his wife, Jeanette.

The Senator's team is using the hashtag #NewAmericanCentury.

In a conference call on Monday morning, Rubio is said to have told supporters he has always felt the United States is about tomorrow.

It's important to note, the tweets from the Team Marco account won't be coming from the senator himself. Instead, his staff is in charge of the page.

His @MarcoRubio account is still active as well.
