MIAMI (CBSMiami) --  A pedestrian landed in the hospital after a car slammed into the person on Saturday.

It all happened around 6 a.m. on South Dixie Highway and 4th Street.

The person was not on a crosswalk at the time of the incident.

The driver, Rontesha Williams,  stayed at the scene and spoke to investigators.

"To be honest, it could be my child my parent my mom, whoever. Like I'm not nasty like that. I would want someone to do the same for me," said Williams. "I just stopped completely and when I got out, I seen that it was a body so what I did was I stopped all traffic so to make sure that he wouldn't get hit again and call 911 at the same time."

Meantime, crews rushed the pedestrian to Kendall Regional Medical Center. No word on the pedestrian's condition.

"I pray to God that he really do make it because it could be anybody. It could be my family," said Williams.
