Traffic Alert: Formula E Race Closures This Weekend

MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- Downtown Miami will play host to Formula E Grand Prix cars set to race over the weekend. That includes some closures which may affect your commute.

Traffic in parts of downtown Miami  will be rerouted starting Friday. Residents and merchants in the area should expect delays.

Starting at 10:00 a.m., Biscayne Boulevard will be closed from Northeast 3rd Street to 14th Street. It will reopen on Sunday at 5 a.m.

In the meantime, all northbound traffic will be rerouted to NE 1st Avenue and southbound will be rerouted to N. Miami Avenue.  Drivers heading South can also use NE 2nd Ave until 8:00 p.m. on Friday.

Northeast 2nd Avenue from NE 14th Street to 11th Terrace will be shutdown starting Friday at 8:00 p.m. Interstate 395 at the NE 2nd Ave exit coming from the Dolphin Expressway (SR836) will also be closed. Both sections will reopen late Saturday night.

Miami Police officers will be stationed along the route to help drivers.

Miami-Dade public transportation routes will also be altered throughout the weekend.
