CORAL SPRINGS (CBSMiami) – A Davie Police Officer is facing charges of extortion after his ex-girlfriend's claims that he threatened to send out photos taken during their intimate relationship--also known as revenge porn.

Officer James Krey is facing two charges of extortion after he allegedly threatened an ex-girlfriend, also a Davie Police Officer, to send photos from their intimate relationship, according to Coral Springs PD.

The relationship between Krey, who has been with Davie Police for about 10 years, and the victim ended about two weeks ago, according to Coral Springs Police.

According to the arrest warrant, officer Krey was asking the victim to resign from her job, and threatening to share "pornographic images and videos of the victim" with coworkers.

According to police the victim is 22-years-old.

"It's a shame this is happening so early in her career," said Sergeant McHugh with Coral Springs Police.

It is unsure if the photos were ever sent out.

Concerned, the victim went to Davie Police—that's when Davie Police contacted Coral Springs Police Department because both the officer and victim live in Coral Springs.

Officer Krey was arrested by Coral Springs Police.

Krey appeared in bond court Wednesday but it was reset for the afternoon because Krey hired a private attorney.

Officer Krey was awarded Officer of the Year in 2012. He was also credited, in January, with stopping a wrong-way driver, and "saving people's lives," Davie Police Department Capt. Dale Engle said at the time.

Davie PD said that Krey has been placed on administrative leave with pay and that the incident is being investigated.

Krey's bond is set at $75,000 and has to wear an ankle monitor.

CBS4 asked Krey's brother and his private attorney about the allegations but they made no comment.
