MIAMI (CBSMiami) – With the beginning of the new NFL year just days away, the Miami Dolphins appear to be on the brink of making a huge splash in the free agency pool.

Perhaps the biggest name to hit the open market this year is defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh, and reports have been surfacing for days that Miami is the favorite to sign him.

That got turned up a notch on Sunday when ESPN's Chris Mortensen reported that Suh will sign with the Dolphins on Tuesday, the first day that free agents are eligible to join new teams.

Suh is widely considered the best player in the NFL at his position and he is a defensive game-changer.

One of the Dolphins biggest problems during the second half of the 2014 season was their inability to stop the run. The signing of Suh will go a long way towards fixing that problem.

The contract that Suh is reportedly going to sign will be in the range of $114 million for six years, with $60 million of that guaranteed.

He will also get $60 million in the first three years, based on the parameters set by Miami and Suh's agent, Jimmy Sexton.

Keep in mind that none of this is a done deal. Until Suh signs on the dotted line on Tuesday, anything can happen.

That being said, it certainly appears that the 28-year-old superstar is Miami-bound.
