Man Charged With Manslaughter In Shooting Of 19-Year-Old
HIALEAH (CBSMiami) - Hialeah police have made an arrest in the murder of a 19-year-old man.
Police arrested Josue Sanchez, 20, and charged him with manslaughter after, with "reckless disregard," he discharged a firearm into the hip of Lazaro Martinez while the two men, and a third person, were smoking marijuana inside a car in a Hialeah parking lot, according to the police report.
According to police, while sitting inside Sanchez's car, the victim and a third person asked to see Sanchez's gun.
Sanchez, according to the report, said he removed the gun from his waistband and removed the magazine and the round from the chamber.
Martinez, and the other person in the car, took photos posing with the firearm.
Sanchez, when he took the gun back, pulled the trigger, shooting the teen in the hip. He told police during questioning that he didn't know the gun had a round in the chamber.
Martinez was taken to the hospital by Sanchez and the witness, according to the report, where he later died.
Sanchez was transported to Hialeah Police Station.
Sanchez was charged with manslaughter for the "reckless disregard for the safety of other while being under the influence of narcotics while handling a firearm," according to the police report.
