Palm Bay Police say 50-year-old Bradford Leonard met officers with gunfire when they responded to a 911 call early Sunday from a home on the street where Leonard lived.
Police spokeswoman Yvonne Martinez says the officers returned fire, and Leonard died at the scene. No officers were injured in the shooting.READ MORE: Death Of Child Pulled From Homestead Pond Under Investigation
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating.
Martinez says the 28-year-old officer who shot Leonard is a two-year veteran of the department and has a military background.
