Hundreds Walk To Support Women In Distress

DAVIE (CBSMiami) -- Hundreds of people walked or ran down the streets of Davie on Saturday, all in the name of helping women affected by domestic violence.
CBS4 Meteorologist John Gerard was the Master of Ceremonies for the 16th Annual Safewalk 5k benefiting the organization Women in Distress. The walk was also meant to raise awareness on the issue of domestic abuse.
The event took place at Nova Southeastern University in Davie.
Over 1,000 people participated raising over $100,000. The funds raised will help the organization provide safe shelter to women and children affected by domestic abuse.
