TALLAHASSEE (CBSMiami) – The state of Florida already has a Hurricane Sales Tax Holiday and a Back-to-School Sales Tax Holiday, now Small Business Saturday could be the state's newest tax holiday, according to a bill which is up for a vote in the Senate Commerce and Tourism Committee Monday.

Senate Bill 384, from Hialeah Republican Sen. Rene Garcia, proposes a sales-tax holiday for some small businesses on November 28th, known as Small Business Saturday.

November 28th is also the Saturday after Thanksgiving.

Across the nation, small businesses have been pushing "Small Business Saturday" as part of the holiday shopping culture, similar to "Black Friday".

SB 384 defines small businesses as those with less than $200,000 in state taxes.

Last year, lawmakers also passed a sales tax holiday for energy-saving appliances. But unlike the energy-saving appliances, hurricane preparedness materials and back-to-school items, the small business sales tax holiday proposal would eliminate the sales tax on all items, not just specific items.
