High Chairs Recalled Due to Fall and Impact Hazard

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – While no injuries have been reported, a company has recalled thousands of its high chairs because the seat can loosen and fall.

The Mima Moon 3-in-1 high chair, about 1,470 of them, has been recalled by the company after receiving 14 reports of the chair seat loosening, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission.

The majority of the high chairs were given away at the May 9, 2014 taping of the Ellen DeGeneres show. The remaining chairs were sold, for about $500, at several stores in Florida and other states from February 2014 through September 2014.

Consumers are asked to stop using the high chair immediately. According to the CPSC, the seat can fall, allowing the child to fall or can fall onto a child crawling underneath the seat.

Owners of the high chair are asked to contact Mima to receive a free replacement upper chair section or instructions on receiving a refund.
