MIAMI (CBSMiami) – It’s been a busy Sunday for Miami Police as detectives are investigating two unrelated, fatal shootings that happened within 10 blocks and two hours of each other on Sunday.
Police said the first man, 30-year-old Reginald Killings, was gunned down in the 5600 block of NW 4th Ave. around 10 a.m.
According to authorities, Killings was standing in his yard when an unknown suspect opened fire, hitting him multiple times. Investigators said Killings tried to run inside but collapsed at the front door.
“We still have no clue why this man was gun down. If he was involved in anything at all or if it’s just a random shooting,” Miami Police Officer Renee Pimentel.
Just two hours later, Miami Police responded to the 4400 Block of NW 5th Ave.
Officers found body of 21-year-old Maurice Alexander Cabrera in the middle of the road.
“A Hispanic male was on his bicycle walking with two other female companions when an unknown vehicle pulled up and one, possibly two offenders, shot him several times,” said Pimentel.
Friends said Cabrera’s pregnant girlfriend was one of the women with him when he was killed.
At this time police have no suspects in either of the deadly shootings.
They are asking for the public help to track down the brazen criminals who were bold enough to open fire in board day light.
“We are always concerned when you have a board day light shooting. This is not something we can do or handle by ourselves this is something we need the public to help us with,” said Pimentel.
If you have any information about these cases, call Crime Stoppers at (305) 471-TIPS.
