HOLLYWOOD (CBSMiami/AP) – A well-known chef, and Miami native, is teaming up with some South Florida hospitals to craft a menu for patients undergoing chemotherapy.

Chef Michelle Bernstein, as part of a one-year agreement, will develop two signature recipes and a complete menu. Bernstein, a James Beard Foundation Award-winning chef, will personally train and provide assistance to the hospital's kitchen staff.

The menu items will be available to patients receiving chemotherapy treatment at Memorial Regional Hospital, Memorial Hospital West and Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital. Patients often spend several hours at the hospital while they receive treatment.

Bernstein is known for her Latin-style cooking and her fresh take on Florida cuisine. She was also born at Memorial Regional Hospital.
