Boy Asleep In Rental Car When Stolen Found Safe

CLEARWATER (CBSMiami/AP) — A six year old boy who was sleeping in his mother's rental car when it was stolen has been found safe and sound.

Elizabeth Rivera left her son Theron Fields asleep in the car while she went inside an apartment late Monday, according to Clearwater Police. When she returned outside, the car was gone, along with her son.

The car was later found abandoned outside another apartment complex 2 miles away.

According to police, Theron was "sound asleep in the back seat of the locked car." The boy has been reunited with his mother.

Police are still investigating.
