Jim Larranaga, a man many consider to be Miami's most beloved coach, joined WQAM on Wednesday to discuss how he's recovering from Miami's wild double-overtime loss to third ranked Virginia last weekend. He also shared some interesting thoughts when asked about his support of Al Golden and the football program amid some tough times.

"Al Golden is a good friend, a good guy, a terrific coach and he knows like I know the whole idea of the media, whether it's the print media, TV, radio, social media, you've got to as a coach no matter who you are ignore all that because the media's job is so different than your job," Larranaga said on the Marc Hochman Show with Zach Krantz. "The media is always looking for a story.

"It can be a great story about how great your team is playing but if your team is not just killing it, they love the story of 'okay, you're not any good at all.' It's always the extreme that sells and creates interest--it's that controversy that works. So I know for myself I don't read the newspapers. I don't read the internet. I don't follow social media. I don't know what people are saying about me or my program and I don't want to know."

He went on to discuss how he tells his players to do the same in an effort to avoid distractions. Miami looks to bounce back this Saturday at 4 p.m. when they host Boston College in Coral Gables for a big-time ACC matchup.
