It Was A Summer-Like Start To 2015

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – It may be January, but South Florida rang in 2015 with summer-like weather.

For the first five days of 2015, Miami's high temperature has been at or above 80 degrees.

On Monday, Miami soared to 84 degrees, just one degree shy from tying the record high of 85 degrees.

Tuesday's weather will be much of the same, still warm, with a quick shower or two possible.

But some relief is insight as the next cold front is on the approach, according to CBS4 Meteorologists Lissette Gonzalez and Michael Smith.

The air mass behind this front, which is scheduled to arrive late Wednesday into Thursday, promises to bring South Florida a noticeable dip in degrees.

So for those of you who would like a refreshing and "colder" change, this cold front will do the trick, knocking down our high and low temperatures a good 15 to 20 degrees.

The core of the cold air stays to the north, and the forecast for the weekend features a gradual warm-up. Highs on Saturday and Sunday will be back in the mid to upper 70s, with overnight lows in the mid to upper 60s.
