POMPANO BEACH (CBSMiami) – Traffic homicide investigators ask asking for the public's help in finding the driver of a truck who struck a motorcyclist Christmas Eve and fled the scene.

The motorcyclist, witnesses say, around 8:30 p.m. was heading southbound on North Federal Highway and came to a stop at the traffic light at Northeast 14 Street.

As the motorcyclist was waiting for the light to turn green, a truck came up from behind, struck him, and kept driving.

Pompano Beach Fire Rescue transported the victim to Broward Health North with severe injuries.

Broward Sheriff's Office traffic homicide investigators are looking for a black or dark blue older model Chevy pickup, possibly a 2001-2006 Silverado, with a partial tag of IB7 or 1B7. It also has the word "Chevrolet" in white letters on the tailgate.

Anyone with information about the location of the truck or the identity of the driver should contact Traffic Homicide Detective Tony Morales at 954-321-4840 or Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS (8477) or www.browardcrimestoppers.org. A reward of up to $3,000 is available for information leading to an arrest.
