HIALEAH (CBSMiami) – Mr. and Mrs. Claus were the guests of honor Thursday at a toy giveaway held by Hialeah city officials.

Mayor Carlos Hernandez and the City Council hosted the annual Toy Drive Giveaway to hopefully make a merrier holiday for underprivileged kids that were preselected by Hialeah schools.

"This is a tradition in our city where we work together with our schools. They chose the most needy kids," said Mayor Carlos Hernandez. "Many occasions this is the only toys these kids are going to get so is a big deal."

Over 400 children from 15 Hialeah Schools were greeted by a gift-giving Santa and his helpers.
