Miami Cop Charged After Fight With Wife

MIAMI (CBSMiami) - A Miami police officer has found himself on the wrong side of the law after getting into a fight with his wife.

Gary Sampson, 47, reportedly got into an argument with his wife on November 29th because he felt she was not giving him enough attention and over fidelity issues.

As the argument escalated, Sampson went to their bedroom, grabbed a gun and returned to confront his wife.

As Sampson held the gun in his right hand with his left hand on the barrel he told his wife "Let's finish this now and let's finish this today," according to his arrest report.

Sampson's wife told police that since had threatened to kill her earlier over the phone, she felt that he was going to go through with it.

When she got up to leave the apartment, Sampson allegedly grabbed the phone out of her hand as she went to call 911. He then smashed it and threw it in the trash.

Sampson's wife made it out of the apartment and went downstairs where she called for help.

Sampson was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a firearm and tampering with a witness.
