LAUDERDALE LAKES(CBSMiami) -- A Lauderdale Lakes family  has been displaced after a fire damaged their home on Tuesday.

Broward Sheriff's Deputies said it all happened at 3531 NW 35 Terrace.

When crews arrived, smoke was billowing through the front door of the home.

Deputies said three girls, ages nine, 14 and 15 were home alone while one of the children was cooking french fries and left the stove on before all three left with their mother to go shopping around 7 p.m.

A short time later, the mother got a call from her panicked boyfriend.

"He's screaming hysterical. I'm like what's going on. He said,"the house is on fire....get home,"said Veronica Woods.

No injuries were reported. The kitchen was destroyed by the fire and the rest of the house is covered in soot.

The family just moved into the home on December 1st.  The mother was just starting to get back on her feet. Now, they have lost almost everything they own.

"I just feel bad for my mom because she just got a job and she's a single parent," said Ronesha Collins.

The American Red Cross is reportedly helping the family find temporary lodging.
