BSO Makes Arrest In Coconut Creek Driving Death

COCONUT CREEK (CBSMiami) – The man accused of killing his friend who didn't want him to drive drunk has been arrested.

Police said on August 16th, Joseph Ianzano tried to stop his friend Patricio Arias Verdial, 19, from driving home drunk after the men attended a country concert in West Palm Beach.

Investigators said Ianzano blocked Verdial's car with his truck but Verdial drove around the truck.

Detectives said Ianzano held on to the back of Verdial's car and was killed when Verdial's car hit a palm tree.

On Friday police arrested Verdial at 1001 NW 11th Manor at around 8:15 p.m.

The 19-year-old is being charged with possession of marijuana under 20 grams, drug paraphernalia, DUI manslaughter, driving while intoxicated 1st offense and DUI property damage.

He is being held at the Broward Sheriff's Office's mail jail.
