Injury Report: Dolphins And Bills Report 22 Combined Hobbled Players

With a short week to lick their wounds and regroup, the Miami Dolphins and the Buffalo Bills have no shortage of injuries to report prior to the NFL Week 11 showdown. In fact, these longtime AFC East rivals reported a combined 22 hobbled position players in anticipation of what’s a must-win game for a pair of 5-4 teams trying to keep their playoff hopes alive.
Here’s the bad news for Miami: 16 of the 22 injured players in the Week 11 reports can be found in the Dolphins’ roster. In contrast, only six of those names are under the Bills’ payroll, which has to make the visitors smile.
Here’s the silver lining for both clubs: Out of the Fins’ 16 injured players and the Bills’ six, only one player from each side has been ruled out for Thursday night’s showdown after missing all team practices.
That means that Joe Philbin and Dough Marrone will have full rosters available to throw at each other in a game with huge AFC playoff implications. Because each head coach will need all hands on deck, it’s certainly worth noting, not only how each injured player performed in this week’s practices, but also of their statuses on game day.
Beginning with the Dolphins, the injured players that were able to participate in full team practices can be found on the defensive side of the football, which is always a good sign.
Going up against one of the best defensive units in professional football, it always helps when the following players did not miss a snap this week in practice (Game status included): [Defensive Tackle] Jared Odrick (hip)/Probable, [Defensive End] Derrick Shelby (undisclosed)/Uncertain, [Guard] Mike Pouncey (hip)/Probable, and [Defensive Tackles] Anthony Johnson (undisclosed)/Uncertain and Earl Mitchell (undisclosed)/Uncertain.
Then there were those players whose injures allowed them to partake in team practices, but only on a limited basis this week. Nevertheless, optimistic Fins fans would take comfort in the fact that five of the nine players on this list are listed as probable’s on gameday: Defensive End, Dion Jordan (hamstring)/Probable, Linebackers Koa Misi (ankle)/Probable and Kelvin Sheppard (hip)/Questionable, Long Snapper, John Denney (knee)/Questionable, Quarterback, Ryan Tannehill (ankle)/Probable, Tight Ends, Dion Sims (toe)/Questionable and Charles Clay (knee)/Questionable, Running Back, Lamar Miller (shoulder)/Probable, and Safety, Jimmy Wilson (hamstring)/Probable.
As stated above, all but one Miami Dolphins players was so hurt to the point that he could not participate in any of the team’s preparations for Thursday night’s Buffalo Bills game. In this instance, Cornerback, Cortland Finnegan (ankle) is the lone player on this list, as he’s been officially ruled out this week.
