MIAMI (CBSMiami) --Miami Dade Police are searching for two armed carjackers who robbed at least two people before injuring an officer on Tuesday evening.

Police said it was at the corner of north 135th Street and North Miami Avenue where they last made contact with those two men who they said carjacked the owner of a Cadillac SUV at gunpoint at the corner of NE 112th Street and 11th Avenue in Biscayne Park.

Roughly an hour later, there was another robbery involving two men with a similar description as the suspects in the first robbery but this time it was in North Miami.

An officer spoke about what happened.

"Detectives were in the area, saturating and looking for the vehicle…that's when the subject vehicle traveling  northbound on North Miami Ave ran the red light t-boning one of the unmarked vehicles. The officer did receive minor injuries. They were treated and released by fire rescue. The subjects fled in the area," said Det. Alvaro Zabaleta of Miami-Dade Police.

Police set a perimeter between 135th and 139th Street from North Miami Avenue to NE 2nd avenue.

Witnesses told police they believe the robbers are armed with a machine gun.

Anyone who lives inside the perimeter is asked to stay inside, to lock their doors and windows and to call 911 if they see or hear anything suspicious.

Anyone with information is urged to call Miami-Dade Crimestoppers at (305) 471-TIPS.
