MIAMI (CBSMiami) - A section of the Florida Turnpike in Miramar was shut down after a fiery crash involving a flat-bed truck and an SUV.

The crash happened in the northbound lanes just beyond the NW 27th Avenue exit.

According to FHP, Ianache Arnauto, 63, was driving a tractor-trailer northbound on the Florida Turnpike in the right lane.

As he approached traffic ahead on the highway, Arnauto failed to stop or slow down in time and veered to the left, which caused his tractor-trailer to jackknife.

He struck a 2006 four-door Lexus that had also been traveling northbound on the turnpike, but in the right line.  The collision caused the fuel tank on Arnauto's tractor-trailer to rupture and both vehicles caught on fire.

Chopper 4 over the scene spotted the jackknifed trailer tractor with the vehicle wedged into its middle. Both vehicles were covered in fire-retardant foam which was used to put out the smoky fire.

The driver of the Lexus, Einstein Hibbert, 47, suffered minor injuries and was taken to Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood.

Arnauto has been charged with careless driving according to FHP.
