Firefighters Need You To Fill The Boot For MDA

DORAL (CBSMiami) – You will see firefighters on the streets of Miami-Dade County this weekend asking you to help "Fill the Boot".
The Muscular Dystrophy Association, Miami-Dade Fire Rescue and the Metro-Dade Firefighters International Association of Fire Fighters Local 1403 kicked-off the 60th annual "Fill the Boot" drive Friday.
MDFR challenged the Jacksonville Fire Department with a wager and the department has already surpassed the goal.
MDFR now needs to meet its goal.
Firefighters will be collecting throughout major intersections in the county through the weekend.
All funds collected will go toward research and family support counseling in the community, help purchase wheelchairs and communication devices and will give children with neuromuscular diseases the chance to attend MDA summer camp.
