Marlins OF Christian Yelich Wins Gold Glove Award

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – It's been over a month since the Miami Marlins played their final game of the 2014 season but the team that remained in the playoff hunt until the final weeks of the season continues to find out how good of a year they actually had.
Tuesday night it was announced that Marlins outfielder Christian Yelich has won a coveted Gold Glove Award.
He becomes only the sixth player in Marlins franchise history, and the first outfielder, to win the award.
Yelich, 22, becomes the youngest Marlins player to win a Gold Glove, a distinction previously held by catcher Charles Johnson who won the award in 1995 at the age of 24.
Johnson won three Gold Gloves during his time with the Marlins, as did second baseman Luis Castillo. Other winners with the franchise are first baseman Derrek Lee, third baseman Mike Lowell and pitcher Mark Buehrle.
Marlins outfielder Giancarlo Stanton and shortstop Adeiny Hechavarria were also nominated for Gold Gloves but ultimately came up short.
