Roads were blocked at SW 376th Street and 192nd Avenue next to the Dade Correctional Institution.

"My mom got paranoid," said one resident who did not want to provide a name.  "Somebody from the prison got out I told her and she's like no they didn't and I said yes they did because they were stationed all along the road and they are walking so I said somebody escaped from the prison."

McCoy is in prison on numerous counts of robbery with a deadly weapon and assault dating back to the 1990s according to Florida prison records. He is serving a life sentence.

If you have information about McCoy, call 911.
