Top Performers From Miami's Win Over Chicago

The Miami Dolphins got a much-needed win on Sunday when they went on the road and defeated the Chicago Bears 27-14.  The Dolphins now hold a 3-3 record heading into their game this weekend against the one-win Jacksonville Jaguars.  The win over Chicago wasn't by any means a perfect game for Miami but there were a lot more positives than negatives.

The Dolphins once again controlled the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball.  The offense looked good in front of quarterback Ryan Tannehill, who has been playing extremely well since Joe Philbin refused to publicly endorse him as the Dolphins starting quarterback in the days following their Week 3 loss to Kansas City.   Along with Tannehill, here are the top performers from Miami's win over the Bears.

In what was very possibly his best game as a pro, Tannehill looked like he was in control of the Dolphins offense from start to finish.  He started the game completing his first 14 passes, leading Miami to just their second 1st quarter touchdown of the season, with the first one coming during the Dolphins Week 1 victory over the New England Patriots.  His 93.3 completion percentage in the first half was the highest for a quarterback in any game this season.  Tannehill finished the game completing 25-of-32 passes, throwing for 277 yards and a pair of touchdowns while adding another 48 rushing yards on six carries. His 123.6 quarterback rating was a career high.

Brent Grimes/Cortland Finnegan

The Dolphins starting cornerbacks came into Sunday's game facing a lot of scrutiny due to their size disadvantage against the Bears two big receivers, Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffery.  All Grimes and Finnegan did was hold Chicago's receiving duo to a combined eight catches for 57 yards.  Grimes coverage was so good that he was only thrown at a couple of times while Finnegan made several nice plays on the ball, breaking up a team-high four passes while also forcing a fumble.

Big Play Clay finally had the kind of game that Dolphins fans were expecting him to have on a weekly basis following his breakout 2013 season.  Clay has been banged up throughout the season but is finally starting to look as good as he did a year ago.  He came away with a season-high 58 receiving yards on five catches against the Bears, scoring his first touchdown of the season in the first quarter.

Cameron Wake

Wake is quietly having himself another solid season.  While his numbers aren't eye-popping, he has a knack for making big plays when the situation calls for it.  He sacked Jay Cutler, forced him to fumble and then recovered the fumble, all on the same play.

Reshad Jones

After missing the first four games of the season due to his suspension for violating the league's policy on performance enhancing drugs, Reshad Jones returned to the Dolphins lineup ready to make an immediate impact.  He shook the rust off during Miami's loss to Green Bay in Week 6 but delivered an awesome game against the Bears on Sunday. Jones led all Dolphins with seven tackles, coming away with an interception that he returned for 50 yards to set up Miami for their second touchdown of the game.
