Broward Students Take On Political Issues Ahead Of Gubernatorial Debate

DAVIE (CBSMiami) -- On the eve of the gubernatorial debate, Broward College students had the opportunity to argue the important issues facing Florida this election season.

The college's speech and debate team joined together with television production students to produce a live mock debate at the college's Central Campus in Davie.

The shadow debate was presented in a team format with two teams representing each gubernatorial candidate.

"The shadow debate is a major joint venture between the online campuses and Central Campus," said Greg Barnes, communications professor and organizer of the mock debate. "It is also a great learning experience for both those behind and in front of the cameras."

All this just one day before Governor Rick Scott and his opponent Charlie Crist are set to take the stage.
