NFL Week 6 Injury Report: Dolphins With Help On The Way For Packers Game

By Abraham Gutierrez

After reporting 22 injured players heading into Week 4, Miami Dolphins fans will be glad to know that Joe Philbin and his staff penciled in seven fewer names heading into their Week 6 showdown with the Green Bay Packers. According to the Fins’ initial Week 6 injury report, there are only 14 players nursing injuries coming out of the bye week.

But that’s not where the good news end for the home team, as all indications are that only two players are projected to sit out Sunday’s game at Sun Life Stadium. If the week’s opening injury report holds up, only cornerback Cortland Finnegan (neck) and wide receiver Brandon Gibson (hamstring) did not participate in practice this week, likely leading to a DNP on Game Day.

Likely to take the field in some capacity will be the players who partook in 100 percent of the snaps this week. These players are listed as having had full participation in practice, and they are: tackle Branden Albert (shoulder), defensive tackle Anthony Johnson (shoulder) and guard Dallas Thomas (shoulder).

Earlier this week it was reported that starting running back Knowshon Moreno could return from a knee injury as early as this week. The former Georgia Bulldog, who’s missed two games after a very hot start, practiced on a limited basis and will be a game-time decision according to the information released.

In addition to Moreno, there are seven additional players who were hindered by injury, but not enough to miss 100 percent of the snaps. Those who practiced on a limited based for Miami include: linebackers Jelani Jenkins (abdomen), Philip Wheeler (shoulder) and Koa Misi (ankle), center Samson Satele (fibula), guard Shelley Smith (knee), defensive tackle Randy Starks (back) and wide receiver Mike Wallace (foot).

On the Packers practice field, Mike McCarthy’s initial Week 6 report illustrates that Green Bay will have four question marks heading into this pivotal clash. Two of the four players did not participate in practice, which has to be a concern given that they are wide receiver Jarrett Boykin (groin) and defensive end Datone Jones (ankle).

The remaining two Packers players were able to participate on limited practice this week, which means that Green Bay fans will have to wait until Friday night’s final Week 6 injury report and game status. Listed as having participated in Limited Practice were defensive tackle Josh Boyd (knee) and linebacker Sam Barrington (hamstring).
