MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Thieves robbed a South Beach liquor store on Tuesday, but security footage showed they almost didn’t get in.
The two burglars used a chainsaw to open hole in the wall of Liquored Up located on Collins Avenue to get into the store.READ MORE: COVID Pandemic Takes Toll On Caregivers
Surveillance video showed the first thief made his way into the store unscathed, but his not-as-skinny partner in crime got stuck.
After a lot of pulling and a broken bottle, the second burglar was in.
The disguised duo grabbed a box of cigarettes before going to work. They took two registers with hundreds of dollars inside.
“Maybe five to ten thousand dollars with the damage; the bottle damage, the material destroyed, the money that was at the cash register,” said store owner David Buzaglo.READ MORE: Rapper Pooh Shiesty, Now Facing Federal Charges, To Remain Locked Up
Among the travel-size alcohol bottles they took, they also stole a Gold Ace of Spades champagne bottle valued at $400. Even with the big price tag, Buzaglo is relieved that is the one they chose.
“They took the cheapest one. We got lucky, thank God,” Buzaglo said.
Buzaglo said he has been in business for 17 years in south Beach and this isn’t his first break in.
He said his security alarm didn’t go off, so he is going to re-evaluate his security at the store.
