TMZ: Doc Who Performed Procedure On Rivers Fired
MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- The man who performed a throat procedure on Joan Rivers has been fired.
According to TMZ, Dr. Lawrence Cohen, who performed the endoscopy, stepped down. He was reportedly asked by the board to do so.
A representative for the clinic did confirm he was ousted from his medical director position.
The board is not directly blaming him for her death, but the board did have an issue with him allowing Joan's ENT to perform an unauthorized procedure.
The procedure was reportedly a biopsy in which Joan went into respiratory and cardiac arrest.
Cohen has been on administrative leave since Joan's procedure on August 28th.
