Change Of Venue Sought In Loud Music Murder Trial

JACKSONVILLE (CBSMiami/AP) — Lawyers for a man accused of killing a teen during an argument over loud music want the trial to be moved outside of Jacksonville.

Attorneys for Michael Dunn will try to convince a judge Thursday that media coverage of his earlier trial, which ended deadlocked on a first-degree murder charge, tainted the local jury pool.

Dunn, 47, was convicted of three counts of second-degree attempted murder for shooting into a carload of teenagers during a dispute over their loud music, killing 17-year-old Jordan Davis of Marietta, Georgia.

But the jury failed to reach a verdict on the first-degree murder charge stemming from Davis' death.

The retrial is scheduled to begin Sept. 22.
