FORT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) — Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport celebrated the opening of it’s new South Runway and invited the community to join in.

The public was invited to a “Fun Day on the Runway.” Those who attended were able to tour the runway, aviation exhibits, and eat from food trucks.

Those who weren’t able to make it to Saturday’s event can still enjoy another event called “Runway Through the Lens” scheduled for September 16th from 6 – 7:30 p.m.

It’s an artists talk at the Broward County Library located at 3151 Stirling Road in Hollywood.

Artist-in-Residence Dawn Roe will discuss her approach to the South Runway project by previewing works created in the field and in the studio over the last 15 months. The talk will include a slideshow, photographs, and video clips.
