Exclusive: FedEx Courier Robbed At Gunpoint In Homestead

HOMESTEAD (CBSMiami) -- Authorities are looking for two people who robbed a FedEx worker while he was delivering packages in Homestead on Thursday.

The company confirmed Friday their employee, Patricio Pinargote,  was robbed while making deliveries at 26308  SW 135th Place.

Authorities said two men approached him. One of the men told him not to move and pointed a gun at him while the other robber grabbed a gold chain around Pinargote's neck.

Both men then ran off.  Pinargote was not harmed.

The company said no packages were stolen, including the one that Pinargote had just delivered which actually had money inside of it.

Residents of the neighborhood say that this kind of event is common, unfortunately.

Another neighbor who did not want to be identified said that she was also held at gunpoint while a necklace was taken from her.

"Do you think that they would kill someone for a $200 chain," she asked. "Yes, around here, yes.  For anything, whatever you have. They could just take it, and they'll shoot you for it."
