Two Men Arrested, Accused Of Running Profitable Prostitution Business

POMPANO BEACH (CBSMiami) – Neighbors were stunned after police raided an office they say was a profitable escort prostitution business in Pompano Beach.

Douglas Stuart Juiffre and Joshua Rubenstein are in jail, accused of operating an escort business that police say netted hundreds of thousands of dollars a month.

Authorities raided Juiffre's office on McNab Road in Pompano Beach. Neighbors were shocked.

"I was staring down the barrel of a machine gun. It was scary," said Kay Pumphrey who has an office next door to Juiffre's.

In court, prosecutors said Juiffre would collect $150,000 to $200,000 a month from the operation.

According to an arrest report, Juiffre would arrange to have girls meet men who would pay for sex. He would hire drivers to take the girls to the meetings.

Police said Juiffre used websites, like Craigslist, to find escorts and drivers.

In court, Rubenstein's father pleaded for leniency on a bond.

"He's a good boy. Does whatever I asked. I don't know what to say in a situation like this."

Police say they infiltrated the elaborate escort/prostitution operation having a detective pose as a driver for the call girls.

"Juiffre explained a typical call is charged $180. The breakdown: $80 for the office, $70 for the girl and the driver gets $30. If it's a two girl, the price is $340; $20 dollars off, or a 20 dollar discount.

Bond for Juiffre was set at $225,00. Bond for Rubenstein was set at $180,000. A check of records showed that Rubenstein had been arrested before trafficking in oxycodone, heroin and morphine.
