One Dead, One Injured In Boat Crash Off Key West

KEY WEST (CBSMiami) --  Two vessels collided in the waters off Key West Thursday afternoon, killing one woman and injuring another.

Coast Guard officials said a Good Samaritan notified them about the collision.

A 44-foot Catamaran and a 55-foot sport fishing boat collided at around 4:00 p.m. near Mud Key.

The crash caused two women aboard the Catamaran to be thrown into the water.

Rescue crews arrived at the scene and took the two women to the Lower Keys Medical Center.

One of the women was later pronounced deceased. The other is in stable condition.

Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is investigation the collision.
