Four People Hurt After Car Crashes Into Business

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Four people were injured Monday after a car crashed into a business.

The car crashed into an Estrella Insurance at 12460 SW 8th Street in Miami Monday.

The sound of the crash could be heard across the shopping center.

"Sounded like a ceiling come down very, very, hard," said Jackeline Socarras.

Isabel Perez, who works nearby,  said "it was like a big thunder, like a train and I looked up and I looked down."

That's when Perez saw an SUV inside the insurance office. Perez said they heard screams from the office.

"The door as you can see is totally blocked so they couldn't come out they were all in there so they were screaming," said Perez. "I guess they were pretty scared."

Police say four people inside the insurance office were hurt. Injuries ranged from scrapes to  a child who was taken to the hospital with a possible fracture.  Miami-Dade Fire Rescue said two people were transported to the hospital.

Perez said the driver walked out saying that he had put his foot on the accelerator instead of the brake.

"He was very shaken up," Perez said.

People who witnessed the crash were also shaken up.

Some said that this isn't the first time seeing something like this. Perez says she's seen a similar incident at the same shopping center in the past.

"It's happened before," said Perez who says she is thankful she doesn't work on the first floor of the plaza.

The four people injured are all expected to be OK.

Miami-Dade Police said an officer responding to the scene was involved in an accident.  That officer and a person from another were both taken to the hospital in stable condition, according to Miami-Dade Police.
